We are (finally) on our way.
The infamous North West weather seems to have decided to give us a send off. We have the beginning of a typical storm with gusty winds and steady heavy rain. Makes one pleased to have an excuse to be some where other than the North West.
As planned we left our house about 10:00am heading for Portland, Oregon to pick up a radio at the HamOutlet. The drive south was uneventful but wet.
From Portland we travelled along the Columbia Gorge on highway 84 to mile post 100, where we stopped for the night in a picnic ground off Celilo Park Road.
Dinner gave us the opportunity to experience, what for us was, a typical first day on the road. We have packed everything very carefully but at the end of the day one cannot really remember where any of it is. So dinner included a lot of "do you remember where we put ... " and, or the removal of many items from one or other ingenious packing spots.
