Well the pump repair did not work. This morning when we investigated the area under the seat, it was wet, and it seemed to be newly wet. A bit more investigation and it was clear, the pump was still leaking. A new one was in order.

We were directed by the campground owners to Bretz. This is a very large RV dealership that seems to be proof positive of the human tendency to arbitrage. Montana has no sales tax, so what this RV dealership does, is to sell RV's to out of staters, and then set up a company (LLC) in Montana for each buyer so that the RV is owned by the company and registered in Montana. Since big RV's can cost $300,000 plus, this can save as much as $30,000 on the price of a new one. The dealership has partnered with a local lawyer who does all the company set up and manages the companies year to year. Seems like a great idea.

As another service to customers the dealership sells propane at $0.99 per gallon

Any way I have digressed a bit; we got a new pump and installed it while parked in the dealers parking lot. I am getting a bit of practice at this now and can remove/install the thing in about 15 minutes.

Back at the campground, the floor seemed to be freshly wet again; this required an even more extensive investigation. By then it was clear we were not moving on from Missoula, as this was a good place for parts and bits and pieces to fix whatever we found to be the problem.

It looked like water was also being forced into the area under the seat through the cover over the house batteries; if this was so, it was a design fault. I could not be sure this was the case but I tried to remedy it any way. A trip to Home Depot for some wood, sealant, construction glue, and screws, then back to camp. Out with the tools including the power drill and within an hour I had a new super-duper battery cover that I didn't think would leak in the future. Although of course only time would tell.
