We could not resist a walk around the town of Leavensworth, the cute always seems to win out over the kitsch. We were a bit early at 9:30 so most of the shops and businesses were closed; probably a good thing as we didn't need to find any more Washington souvenirs.

As we travelled west we were welcomed by that traditional Pacific North West weather; rain. It persisted all the way up I-5 and just after we crossed the border into Canada the sun started to show itself through the clouds and a fine afternoon, evening emerged.

As planned we arrived at the home of our friends John and Brenda about 5:30pm. They served us a delightful dinner and we caught up on their recent trip to Egypt, Jordan, and Ethiopia which seemed to be quite an adventure as well as the occasional challenge. We probably bored them silly with our plans for this current trip and details of the recent Russia and Germany trip. We also caught up on some hockey (Calgary over Minnesota) and the comings and goings of our respective families.

We parked the Tiger on the street in front of their house for the night; a bit of guerilla camping.
