It was cold over night as this morning there was fresh ice at 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick on the lake. And I thought that we had escaped the cold weather. However the day is clear and bright, but chilly.

On our way back along the Ingram we stopped to take a walk along a trail to Cameron Falls. The falls are not particularly high but the volume of water flowing is impressive, and the river downstream from the falls flows between walls of solid granite.

Back in Yellowknife we spent some time exploring old town which is situated on a peninsula that juts into Great Slave Lake. The peninsula is very hilly and over the years all sorts of unusual buildings have been erected to take maximum advantage of the unusual land. On the high point of old town is a memorial to the bush pilots that were instrumental in opening up northern Canada.

A few more chores and it was time to leave Yellowknife and start our trip south.
