We lingered at the camping ground this morning sheltering from the strong morning sun under the shade of the trees and enjoying the Texas country side.
Once under way we travelled the 200 plus miles into San Antonio. The countryside has changed to more rolling hills and low sedimentary rock formations and is much greener than further west.
In San Antonio we called in at a place called Outdoor World a place that caters to Hunters and Fishermen - like Cabelas for those that know that chain of stores, for the Australians, you cannot imagine this place. Nina bough a selection of brightly colored tops and a new pair of shorts, and we both bought sandals. All in all a bit of a splurge.
After shopping we parked in the downtown area and spent a couple of hours walking along the famous River Walk. It was quite crowded both the walkway and the restaurants and bars. It really was a nice change from the hot and flat Texas countryside that we have experienced over the last three days.
Back on the road south we selected a State Park near the town of Three Forks for our nights stop. However, the state park proved to be more difficult to find than we had expected so we finished up in Tips Park near Three Forks and within sight and sound of the local oil refinery
