A correction - the place we are staying near La Libertad is called Centro Obrero or workers center and is provided by the government for "workers" and visitors.

At 7:00 this morning after handing over our laundry to the local washing lady we caught a local bus into the port of La Libertad and went to the fishing wharf or pier to watch the fishermen launch and retrieve their boats. The fishing boats are two man open top dingy type about 4 feet wide and maybe 18 feet long, powered by 40 hp outboards. They store these boats on the wharf on wheeled trollies and when it's time to go fishing the boats on trollies are wheeled to the end of the wharf and lifted into the water by one of two small cranes. The lining up and preparations are quite a spectacle.

The process is reversed when the boats return with the added feature that all the fish vendors rush the boats to see what they have caught and to buy the best of the catch for their market stall.

At the pier we bought some corvinar a local type of fish that has skin not scales that we planned on having cooked by a local lady for lunch.

After the pier we wandered through the market, collected some vegetables for the lunch, the super market for some more supplies and then onto the homeward bus.

Now the bus was a real circus. While we waited for the bus to fill and get underway a variety of vendors took the opportunity of a captive audience to pitch their wares, we had people selling cold drinks, candy, nuts, bread, and trinkets. But the most amazing was a guy that stood at the front of the bus with a folder of photos selling cancer cures and surgical procedures.

Back at camp we took a swim in the pool, it seems well maintained and the pumping and chlorinating equipment seemed to be working - amazing.

Lunch arrived and the corvinar lived up to Norm's promise - really nice white flesh without too many bones.

After lunch Nina and I ventured back into town by ourselves to find an internet. Today we did not take our own computers, but took the new whiteacorn files on a thumb drive. At the first internet cafe I could not get the file upload to work, but a second internet cafe was more successful.
