Today our priority was to get started on the paper work associated with shipping the vehicle to Colombia. The latest information we have is that the ship will depart from the port of Colon - on the Atlantic side of Panama on Friday 31st July and arrive in Cartagena Colombia Sunday 2nd August.

So first thing this morning we accompanied a representative of our Customs agent to a National Police office for them to clear the vehicle for exit, only to find a sign saying - no inspections until Monday. Fortunately our agent was able to find a way around that obstacle only to hit the next one. The police officer inspecting our vehicle did not like the abbreviation used on our entry documents to describe the color of the vehicle - it said BNCO instead of BLANCO. The document had to go back to customs to be amended, eventually this would be fixed but not until Monday. The police station we visited was in one of the poorer parts of Panama City and was an area one was not tempted to stroll around.

We spent the afternoon at the fire station waiting for news of the paper works progress and trying to stay cool - without much success on either front.
