Today was the big day on paper work, late in the day we heard from the customs agent that all was complete and Nina's passport had been stamped to indicate that she could leave the country without the Tiger. In each of the countries we have traveled through Nina - as the owner of the Tiger - got two entry stamps in her passport, one for herself and one for the vehicle. This prevents her from leaving the Tiger behind when she leaves the country. Thus to leave Panama she needed to have the vehicle stamp effectively cancelled.
At breakfast this morning we met both the owner of the hotel and his pet, a small black and white monkey. The monkey seems very domesticated, it roams around both inside and outside the hotel, will jump onto ones shoulder given a chance and seems keen to share whatever food one has. Nina got quite a kick out of the little lady and spent a lot of time taking photos of her.
During the morning we installed the barrier between the house part of the Tiger and the driving compartment to make it more difficult for thieves to enter the house while moving the vehicle on and off the boat Our preparation at Gig Harbor proved itself as the barrier went in easily. We had the preparations complete early enough to take a trip with Norm to the local mall in the afternoon.
The mall is big, putting Tacoma mall to shame, about 1 km in length and with animal themes for the identify to the different entrances. One entrance is marked by a pair of 10 foot high fiber glass canguroo - Kangaroos. While at the mall a heavy rain storm hit, the rain drops so big and rapid that their sound on the mall roof made conversation almost impossible.
About 6:30 pm we got Nina's passport back with the required stamp and the associated paper work. This means that tomorrow we can go to the port of Colon and leave the vehicle for shipping. Sounds like the difficulties are over!!
