There is not much to say about today. I had hoped to get the vehicle serviced at a local Chevrolet dealer and was optimistic enough to hope that they would be able to supply the engine, transmission and fuel filters. But it was not to be. The Tiger would not fit into their workshop, and they could not provide any of the filters.
Nina spent some time today looking for our medications. Since this trip is getting longer every time we discuss it our medication supply needs to be expanded as our original supply anticipated a return to the US in December. Fortunately it seems we can buy everything we need directly from a Pharmacy simply by showing our US prescriptions. The only downside it that a few of the medications are expensive; then again they are also expensive in the US even with the benefit of medical insurance.
The increasing length of the trip is also having implications for vehicle maintenance. As mentioned above it looks like we cannot get engine, transmission or fuel filters for the Tiger down here. To support a longer trip we are going to need to have some of these sent from he US. We will try that over the next four weeks, our son Richard will buy and ship these items to the Tour company we are traveling with to the Galapagos. We hope that works, though we have been warned by some folks that Ecuador customs will be a problem. I will let you all know how that works out.
