Day 258

Today Sandra, Bernie, Nina and I went for a 30 minute paragliding run hooked up in tandem to an experienced pilot. This was Bernie's way of celebrating his birthday and Nina and I just tagged along because it sounded like a good idea.

All in all it took about 2 hours for the 30 minute ride. It was a great sensation just drifting along in the sky overlooking the sparkling water of Iquique harbor. Even the takeoff and landing was not a drama. All the pilots carried emergency parachutes - if we had needed to use those I think there would have been some drama.

Nina and I have spent a good deal of time over the last few days trying to decide what to do next. Will we head directly south making towards Patagonia with some haste or will we go east back into the mountains for some of Northern Chile's famous attractions. The current decision is East; but that could easily change tomorrow when we start to move. Things have been a bit like that lately - spontaneous.
