As we passed Popayan today we took a detour and made a return visit to the market town of Silvia and its Tuesday market. We were pleased that the timing was such that we could again visit this town and market.
It was just as colorful as we remember, with both ladies and men in traditional dress. Both wearing a lot of blue and both wearing a form of skirt with matching shawl.
We bought some vegetables, and walked around photographing the market scenes, a few individuals who were prepared to allow photographs and the colorful old buses.
We had a short chat with a French couple in a motor home who where traveling south. They had spent a couple of years on the road in North and Central America.
Camping
By luck we found a great camping place for the night. Just south of Buga, and north of Cali, we came upon the entrance on the eastern side of the highway at GPS N 03 50.23 W 76 18.07 to Parque Natural Regional El Vinculo. The camping area in this park is at the top of a modest hill from which there are great views of the valley. There are toilets, electricity, cold showers, a large and nice picnic shelter and a kitchen area. The hill got a slight breeze when we were there, which was a great relief from the humidity and insects.
