This morning we were up by 6:00 in the hope of seeing the sunrise, but alas, the sky was covered in cloud and the sun did not shine through.
Never the less the early start got us underway early for our visit to a local fishing village; Vung Vieng Fishing village a rather unusual fishing village because all the houses and facilities are floating. We toured this village in flat-bottomed rowing boats rowed by some local fishermen and women.
As well as catching natural fish and seafood it appeared that the village also raised fish and other sea products in nets slung beneath their platforms.
The village did not seem to have many people in attendence. Our guide explained that sometimes people from the village go to work in the city to earn cash and also that their children are required to attend school in the city. It apears the government is worried about illiteracy rates among the populations that live in these villages.
After the village tour we were back to the boat and then a 3 hour cruise back to port.
Once in port we re-connected with our guide and driver and undertook a long (3-4 hour) drive to our next hotel Tam Coc Garden Resort near the city of Nimh Binh.
During the afternoons drive we got our first dose of Vietnamse rain.
