Today was a big driving day, we retraced our steps all the way back to the town of Para where we first landed. Since it was a 6 hour drive (for about 160 km) we did not do much else, thus there is not much to say. I will let the photos (and a few related comments) surfice.
The sun was out this morning as we prepared to depart and its warmth was raising mist from the wet soil. The first leg of the drive (retracing the Wangdue-Trongsa Hwy) gave us another opportunity to photograph the Magnolias and vegetable gardens along that road.
During the day we discovered that there is a Festival taking place in Paro while we are there and the guides version of our itinerary includes 2 days in which we are to view the activities of the festival. Interestingly our copy of the itinerary is silent about these 2 days. I will not doubt discuss the Festival in more detail in coming days.
We got our first taste of the Festival late in the afternoon when it took us 40 minutes to negotiate the traffic jam in the village of Paro. See the last photo. The second last photo is the Dzong in downtown Paro where some of the festival activities are to take place.
