It was cold overnight, we estimated (don't have a thermometer) in the mid 30°F. So consequently we did not hang around at our bush camp but got underway towards Uluru where our observations about the tourist season was further confirmed. Just take a look at the line of people climbing Uluru and what you can't see are the 1000+ vehicles parked just near.
From Uluru our route took us to the nearby Olgas where we found the parking lots again packed with others like us out to enjoy Australia's Center while the weather is not hot.
The Great Central Road starts only 2 km from the Olgas and that's where we headed next. However before "really getting started" we decided to have lunch so I pulled off the road into what I thought was a nice bare patch of red sand. But I should have looked more carefully because it was not bare enough and I managed to find a small plant that managed to drive a small branch through the side wall of a rear tire. That's why the photos show me pretending to be a mechanic.
With tire fixed we drove about 170km along The Great Central Road to Lasseters Cave (second last photo); read about Lasseters Reef here and found another bush camp amongst the spinifex not far away.
