This morning we finished our exploration of Francois Peron NP by driving the remainder of the sandy track to Cape Peron where we spent some time trying to get the "perfect" photo contrasting the red soil against the white beaches and blue ocean. It was a lovely morning and in addition to the great scenery, the great luck of spotting a goanna sunning itself under a bush we enjoyed the bouncing bucking ride along the sandy tracks.
Once out of Peron NP it was a short drive to the resort at Monkey Mia whose claim to fame is dolphin feeding demonstrations. Once upon a time (like in the 1970s) one could come here and swim with and feed the local dolphins. But these days it is much more controlled and the feeding is done by rangers and us visitors get to watch from the beach. No swimming with, touching or feeding dolphins for us visitors.
We sent the night at the Monkey Mia Resort in the caravan park section. It is an up-market resort and we availed ourselves of some of the facilities by having a few drinks and dinner in the bistro.
