The next few days are going to be an exercise in "delaying". There are two reasons for this. The first is that we have to be in Croydon (west of here) as late as Friday 4th August to pickup some parcels from the Croydon post office for Brendon and Daniel. Second we could not get either a tour of the Lava Tubes at Undara (now booked for the afternoon of 30th July), nor a tour of Cobbold Gorge with out some delay(now booked for the afternoon of 1st Aug). Thus the next few days are an exercise of finding something to do.

So today we headed East from Undara to the junction of the Savannah Way and the Great Inland Way. The Inlwand Way is one of the major North to South routes through Norther Queensland passing through Charters Towers. We followed it a little way south and then took a dirt road towards a destination called The Valley of Lagoons which eventually took us to the small hamlet of Greenvale. The route turned out to be primarily a cattle station access road and along the way we passed maybe a dozen different stations, saw lots of cows, some very pretty stream crossings and one substantial river crossing of the Burdekin River (see movie below).

Eventually we got to Greenvale only to discover that the camping ground was effectively closed as their toilet facilities are out of order. We camped in a gravel pit a little east of the town with a couple of other groups of travellers.

Here is a too-long video of the river crossing.
