Before leaving Daly Waters this morning Nina did her usual walk around and visited the Stuart Tree, the nearby WWII air field, railway bridge and we said goodbye to the campground cattle.
Along the drive this morning we found a really good and easily photographed sample of Savannah Grassland before stopping at the village of Larrimah to check out their pub which as you can see has a Pink Panther theme.
In the campground at Mataranka we got captivated by the bird life. The campground has a large flock of peacocks and occassionally we saw the little bird with the blue patches surrounding the eyes.
About 4:00pm we noticed on our phones that Brendon was getting close to the junction of the Roper Highway and the Stuart Highway which meant he and Daniel would almost certainly be in town by the end of the day. As it transpired they arrived in Mataranka just before 4:30 pm having completed the 180+km leg from Roper Bar.
After the guys recovered from their days effort, showered, cleaned up and rehydrated we had dinner at the campground restaurant.
We all spent the next day Aug 12th in Mataranka. I was feeling a bit out-of-sorts so slept the entire day while Brendon and Daniel visited some of the local hot springs and worked on their bikes and gear.
The evening was devoted to watching the Matildas defeat France.
