This morning we again said goodbye to the cyclists even though our routes coincide for the next 200km or so. We will almost cetrtainly not see them again on this trip. We will travel West to the Lennard River (200km) and then South while the cyclists will probably do the 300+km West into Derby.
The first 10km of the days journey was horrible for Nina and I in a vehicle but I cannot imagine what it was like on a bicycle. Just west of Mt Barnett road works were in operation with a fleet of 3-trailer road trains carrying gravel to the site. These roadtrains created so much dust that it was impossible to see past them and if behind them the road was also invisible. See Brendon's instagram posts for photos.
Nina and I had decided yesterday that today we would see at least one of the gorges along the remainder of the GRR(Gibb River Road) and the one we chose was Adcock Gorge. It is a 5 km side trip from the main GRR to this Gorge and it turned out to be quite pretty. The waterfall was dry but the pool below the falls was large and full.
We stopped at Bell Creek for lunch and checked out the treasure we had left there for Brendon and Daniel a few days ago. It was still in place.
It was a very hot day, 37°C for much of the day. So we kept driving until late in the day and around 4:00 pulled into a gravel pit just off the King Leopold Range Road South of Windjana national Park.
