Readers may recall that back at the start of August we spent a few days in Croydon Qld waiting for a parcel that was supposed to arrive there on Aug 4th but did not. That parcel contained a special nut for the front axle shaft of Daniel's bicycle and is supposed to help hold the front wheel in the front fork of the bike. The nut was lost and this new one was ordered via ebay on July 20th. So since at least July 20th the front axle (and hence front wheel) of Daniel's bike has been held in by a couple of zip-ties pretending to be an axle nut.
The new nut arrived in Croydon about Aug 8th and as promised the Post Mistress at Croydon re-addressed the package to the Katherine Post Office. We could verify this by watching the tracking data for this package.
When Brendon and Daniel arrived in Katherine the nut package had not arrived so they ordered another nut this time on Amazon and from a supplier in China. That was Aug 14th.
Well we got a tracking notification on Sept 1st that the first nut had arrived in Katherine and was awaiting collection at 7:57am Sept 1st but at 8:52am Sept 1st it was declared not collected, and return to sender. Very frustrating.
This morning I got notification that the second nut (from China) had been delivered to TyrePower Katherine and sure enough I was able to go there and pick it up.
While all of this shipping-of-nuts has been going on Daniel's bike has travelled 3000km from Einasleigh Queensland to Derby Western Australia with plastic zip-ties pretending to be an axle nut.
Daniel will probably never get this nut. Brendon will not get it until we re-unite in Sydney in 2-3 weeks.
And of course in Katherine we washed the vehicle which is/was extremely dirty.
