It was a shortish drive into Mt Isa this morning and thereafter the day was about the town and surrounds of Mt Isa. The mine and associated works certaiinly do dominate the town.
As you will see from the photos below we spent a good deal of time viewing the fossil exhibits at the towns Tourist Information Center. A highly interesting display which is well worth while if you ever visit Mt Isa.
The towns water supply comes from nearby Lake Moondarra which was formed by daming the Leichhardt River. Not only is it an essential water supply for the town and local mines but also a wonderful recreational asset.
