Before setting out this morning we visited the small museum attached to the Park. The displays and short video gave a good explanation of the choice of this location for the crossing.
At Twin Forks we took a detour to Shoshone Falls. A fellow camper we met this morning suggested this side trip. He told us the river was unusually high and the falls more spectacular and powerful than he had ever seen them. It was a worth while detour, and while the park was crowded the falls were impressive. Last time we visited them was winter and the water was low and there was ice everywhere.
Continuing toward Salt Lake City the day stayed sunny but the wind picked up and we encountered a number of solid climbs that made the engine noise of yesterday very noticeable. We resolved to find another Ford dealer tomorrow, get a second opinion and make sure that the diagnosis was recorded on the Ford computer system.
Our camp for the night was Willard Bay State Park North. A nice park squeezed between the highway I-84 on the east and the The Great Salt Lake on the west.
