By the time we were up and about this morning three of the ERs had already departed and a 4th (the one with Bill and Mike from the Earthroamer company) was about to get underway. that left only three ERs and Bill the guide.
Once the morning chores were done the reduced company found its way out of camp, hooked up with Beef Basin Road and traveled on easy dirt road through a spectacular valley back to the blacktop and SR211. A few miles east on 211 brought us all to an attraction called Newspaper Rock, a large flat rock surface with a large collection of pectroglyphs.
This was the final break-up point for the party so after some more goodbyes we all went our separate ways.
The Blackwell's returned west along SR211 to the start of the Lockhart Basin road. Our plan was to travel this road north as far as we felt comfortable. As the afternoon progressed we made about 16 miles before deciding to turn around. Some uncertainty about our ability to negotiate some steep and narrow sections farther north and the gathering dark clouds of a threatening storm were our excuses.
We returned to within a few miles of SR211 and camped the night beside Indian Creek and its modest flow of water. The threatening storm produced some thunder, a few lightning flashes, and maybe a cup of rain water in the form of occasional drops. Still it did cool things down.
