This morning we caught the local subway to The Marina Bay Sands Hotel, that famous Singapore building consisting of three towers with a boat resting across the top of the towers. The metro station at Bay Front is in the shopping mall that sits between the hotel and the harbour. So we started our visit to this tourist mecca by walking around the mall. It is breath taking in its opulence, every up-market brand you have ever heard of and many you have not.
The view from the observation deck was a great opportunity to come to grips with the layout of the city of Singapore though the light was not great for photographs. We spent a good deal of time on the deck taking in the sights.
After lunch and a rest in our hotel room we walked back to the harbour, this time to visit the statue of the Merlion and get a photograph of the harbour with the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in the background.
Dinner was at Zorbas a Greek restaraunt just along the river from out hotel.
