We spent most of yesterday (Sept 20th) in Yerevan with a late checkout before catching another overnight train. This one would take us back into Georgia, through Tbilisi and onto the Black Sea resort town of Batumi. The border crossing back into Georgia hapened around 22:00 and between Armenian exit processing and Georgia entry took a couple of hours and was all done either with officers boarding the train or at a small office beside the train.
We arrived in Batumi in time for breakfact at our hotel and then Nina joined our group for an excursion to the towns Botanical Gardens. I think it is fair to say she was a little underwhelmed by the gardens. Like a lot of things we saw in Georgia and Armenia, the idea is grand but maintenance and upkeep is lax and things deteriorate. We have speculated that "lack of money" is the primary cause of this phenomenon.
After lunch with Nina back from the excusion we went for a walk around the downtown area of Batumi. There are a number of modern and elaborate highrise buildings, and some nice parks in the downtown area, with the beach front being the primary focus.
