After our short stay in London we booked to visit our eldest son Brendon who is currently living in the German city of Freiburg Im Breisgau. We decided to fly from London as we had anticipated being a little tired of trains by this point in the trip.

The flight turned out to be a good reminder of the confusion that EU arrangements can sometimes present to foreigners. We flew from London to Basel Airport, the nearest airport to our German destination. Basel is the name of a Swiss city but the airport happens to be in France, from there we caught a taxi into Freiburg in Germany.

Our AirBnB apartment turned out to be very comfortable and only 1km from where Brendon is living. the weather was cool with signs of autumn with many falling leaves. The city of Freiburg is small for a city but very efficient, tidy and picturesque. We enjoyed the town as well as the visit with Brendon.
