Our flight home was scheduled for 21:30 so we had almost an entire day to either waste or get in some last minute sightseeing, even taking into account that it would be a 2 hour drive to the Dubai airport from our hotel. As you might have expected Nina decided on the sightseeing and I decided to laze around in the hotel.
The photos below are of Nina's visit to the Louvre. As you can see she found the building that houses the museum interesting though in truth she would have liked to include photos of the art works as well but they were covered by glass to protect them from accidents and incidents and hence photos of them did not really turn out very well. .
As you can see the building stands by itself in water of the Persian Gulf. Note guys on the boat in photo 2 are painting the walls. Abu Dhabi Louvre Museum
Nina got back to our hotel about 12:30 and thereafter the day turned into a series of exercises in patience; waiting for the car, the 2 hour drive, waiting to board the plane, the 14 hour flight, and finally a Sydney taxi.
After 79 days of travel how do we feel. On the one hand tired and looking forward to being in the same place for a while ....
But also looking back with some satisfaction as we have seen some fabulous places and things ... and reflecting on the differences we have seen in how people and countries go about the business of living ...
With the outcome and consequences of the US election ahead of us it has been interesting to see, hear and think about how others view the world.
