There was a little bit of uncertainty about today. Our plan was to leave Lightning Ridge on the road that was closed to us a couple of days ago. We made this decision after discussion with our LR hosts most of whom had driven that same road in their 4x4 trucks on their way to LR on Friday and assured us that the water was only 200mm or 8 inches deep.
But despite this advice and assurance there was still in our minds some uncertainty. However before tackling this challenge we decided to take a 120km detour north (the totally wrong direction) to a town called Hebel. Why ? .. it allowed us to tick the box labelled visit Queensland
And, what happened with the flooded road?
The water had subsided considerably and was no problem. Only 2-4 inches deep. See the photos.
