I have travelled a long way west since the start of this trip and hence my body clock is a little out of sync with the sun. I also try to touch base with Nina at the start of the day via satellite communicator. Between these two factors I was awake very early this morning, well before the sun. As a reward I got to watch the changing light as the day emerged in the east. It also meant I was underway early, 7:30am (South Australian Time).

The first stop of the day was Border Village which as you might guess is a small settlement (really a roadhouse) at the border between South Aust. and Western Aust. Surprisingly there is a quaranteen station at this border because certain types of fruits and vegatables are not permitted into WA from other states.

A few kms over the border is another roadhouse called Yalata. It is on land owned by the aboriginal tribe of the same name.

West from Yalata the land form changes. East of the point the road travels on the tops of a low escapment which is the reason that the Australian Bight has scenic cliffs. From Yalata a low land emerges between the escapment and the sea and the road drops down to follow the sea. Thats Pict005.

At Mundrabilla Roadhouse it was time for a cup of tea. I noticed another one of those Nullabor Links golf holes. Glad I did not want to play as someone was parked in the middle of the fairway. They can be forgiven however as the tee is also in the middle of the parking lot.

I stopped for the night a Cocklebilly Roadhouse.
