A quick look around Esperence this morning before getting underway. The beach front is the crown jewel of this town and the weather went out of its way to give me a fine view.
The ride today mostly passed through farmland and by comparison with South Australia it was very green.
Dotted over the green farmland were stands of trees, mostly some form of gum tree but on occasions evergreens. My photos do not really do them justice.
Tonight I am in a very small town called Jerramungup, and earlier today I had lunch and bought fuel at a place called Munglinup. There were many other places along the way that had names ending in ....up. Apparently this is a common ending for places south of Perth and as a result the region sometimes gets called The UPs. On a previous visit to this region we were told the naming ("up" ending) derives from local aboriginal languages and implies a place has water.
Finally the Jerramungup Motor Hotel provided very basic accommodation.
