I was cold last night; if I can believe the Apple weather app 3°C. So I got up early hoping to warm myself with tea while waiting for the sun to rise and start warning the world. In the first group of photos below you can see steam condensing in the air from the hot water and tea. There is also a small patch of ice on the black saddle bag in the 4th image.

The first town of the day was Menzies as very small place a little over 90km from where I started the day.

There are a few nice old buildings in the town like the town hall in the first picture and a number of metal sculptures (for want of a better description) like the lady tending the ruins of the baker's oven.

The other motor bike and rider is a happenstance meeting. He is on his way to Uluru via the Great Central Road.

The building in images 4 and 5 is the old nursing stations.

I planned to take a side trip from this Menzies to Lake Ballard to again see the statues by Antony Gormley celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Perth International Art Festival.

Along the way to Lake Ballard I saw a number of salt lakes and evidence of recent rains including many roadside patches of wild melons, and standing water beside and on the road.

Nina has asked me to include some photos of myself. So I chose this section of the day to comply.

On this visit to Lake Ballard I decided to climb the small hill on the lake surface that immediately grabs a visitors attention when visiting the lake.

After Lake Ballard and the return ride to Menzies I headed North up the Goldfields Highway to the town of Leonora. Another 100km leg with not much to see other than the progressive flattening of the land and the diminishing of the vegetation to low scrub.
