My first task this morning was to visit the site of the Gwalia mine just south of Leonora. I have visited this place before and the following link here will take you to that blog entry. I could not help but add a few more photos.
Just after departing Leonora I was stopped at a pull-off putting in my ear plugs when a young man in a work vehicle stopped and offered to take a photo for me. Since Nina has been suggesting I need more photos of my self I accepted his offer. These are a couple of the many.
My old brain has forgotten the young mans name, but he is a German, in Australia on a working holiday visa, working for a mining exploration company as a technician. My thanks to this good samaritan.
The first destination on todays route was the town of Leinster. I had not realized this is a company town. The sign at the entry to the town is the first clue, and almost the only people I saw in the town were in signature working clothes and vehicles.
From Leinster the remainder of the day was spent travelling west towards the very small town of Sandstone. I saw, no towns or settlements along this route though there were plenty of side roads with signs indicating such and such a mine.
The scenery along the route varied between low scrub, gibber scrub, and grass land scrub.
The scenic highlight as the Peter Denny look out, which overlooks a small escarpment.
