Today started with the closing of the Strawberry Moon. And with the sun now in the East it was possible to get a couple of acceptable shots of Lake Nallan.
The first town of the day was Meekatharra. The word comes from the langauge of the local Yamatji people and means "place of little water". Though surprisingly the local park had a little natural looking pool. I believe that comes from an artesian bore.
Unfortunately the tone of the town was set for me by the sign (first pic) on the towns public toilets.
The first 3 photos in the next group are more typical of Central Australian Lakes; a salt pan covered in plants that are known locally as "salt bush".
The sponge bob is the mail box for a local cattle station.
Tonight was another bush camp. As none of my camping references could suggest a place of any note I adopted a new strategy. I picked a place mostly out of sight of the road but close to a Telstra cell tower. That was so I could at least speak to Nina during the evening.
The second photo is the moon rise but filtered through the branches of a nearby bush.
