Before leaving this morning i decided to capture a few more images of Newman, specifically the motel I stayed in called The Lodge Motel, some of the feathered residents of Newman wearing their latest iron-ore red outfits, a couple of images of the mine site itself, and finally a little after leaving the town I got a picture of Mt Newman after which the town used to be named.
Today the scenery was quite different to the previous days of this trip. There were definite mountains to see, the ground itself continued to be iron-ore red though today this was often obscured by the yellow grass tufts that seemed to cover everything.
Just before arriving at Auski Tourist Village I saw a sign with a camera on it and an array pointing to Tognolini Lookout. The lookout was spectacular giving a fine view of some mountains and a canyon through which the road passed.
Auski Tourist Village is, I think, the name of the caravan park and motel at this roadhouse, while the entire complex seems to be called Munjina Village. Or maybe I have arrived here during a name-change phase. In any case the roadhouse and gas station is exceptionally busy with dozens of raod-trains and dozens of tourists with caravans pulling in for fuel and food. There are a good number of caravans camping here.
I am staying in a single bed unit in a prefab building. My unit is number 64 of 161.
