Before leaving Marble Bar this morning I wanted to take a photo of Marble Bar Pools. These are a series of water pools about 3 km west of Marble Bar on the Coongan River. Unfortunately the roads down into the river bed and to the pools were closed for some kind of earth works project.
The photos below start with some images of the Marble Bar caravan Park, photos 3,4,5 are the Marble Bar Pools.
The final photo below is a fine example of the many termite mounds that can be seen along the Marble Bar Road that connects with the Great North Higwhay (other wise known as Highway 1).
Once back onto The Great North Highway there was not much to see, good quality pavement, but flat country with low scrub. The exception to this monotony was provided by 3 major rivers crossed by the highways. They are in order.
I camped the night in the caravan park at Sandfire Road House. A nice place to camp, with a great stand of trees providiong the camping area with shade.
