Today started with a crossing of the newish bridge over the Fitzroy River. This bridge was rebuilt asfter the floods of 2023 washed away the old one. Recall that I crossed the floodplain of this same river 2 days ago on my way to Wallare Roadhouse. It is a mighty river and foreshadows the Ord River and Lake Argyle over the next few days.

The ride today was through, generally, very uninteresting country. Flat, grass plains and low scrub. There were really only two highlights worth commenting on. The first is a small band of rugged hills called The Pinnacles with a Rest Area on the top of one of the mesas.

The second is a now disused floodway across the Mary River. This place is called Mary Pool because the river usually has pools of water near the old floddway even late into the season. The area has become a popular stopping spot for caravaners and even has a dump point chemical toilets.

Today, for me, Mary Pool was a lunch stop.

I camped the night in the bush behind a truck parking bay.
