This morning Alexander picked me up at 5:30 and drove me to the airport. GXV has shipped a box of parts and tools to our son Brendon in Berlin and I am off to collect them. It turns out that today is also Easter Sunday for the Russian Orthodox Church so Alexander also delivered a couple of hand painted Easter eggs for Nina to enjoy while I was away.
Over the past few days I have been in contact with the folks at GXV discussing what needs to be done to fix the truck. I also made a visit to the truck to examine the broken parts and assessed what I would need in the way of parts and tools to make the necessary repair. To say this is a bit tricky is an understatement. The camper box must be lifted so that the broken rubber mount can be removed and a new one installed. Back at the GXV workshop this would be achieved with a forklift or large floor jack but here no such tools are available. After some thought I decided that a lifting airbag is what I need together with a selection of wrenches of the correct size, of course a new rubber mount, and a plate to go under the rubber mount to distribute the load a little more evenly.
Over the past few days the GXV guys have collected the tools and parts and shipped them FEDEX yesterday Thursday May 4th with an indicated delivery to Brendon's apartment Monday May 6th. So I am off to Berlin to get them.
