Today was celebrated as Children's day in Mongolia. Families were out celebrating and taking their children to playgounds and other attractions. At the Oasis for the first part of the day the manageress Sybil took on the role of chief cook and bottle washer so that the staff coud spend the morning with their families and children.
Later in the day a number of Mongolian families dropped by to continue their celebration of Children's day. Nina finished up entertaining herself and some of the children by playing games with them in our camper.
Another interesting feature of the day was the ban on the sale of alcohol. This happens on the first day of every month. It is an effort to stop Mongolian men from spending all of their wages on booze. You see they get paid on the last day of the month and by prohibiting alcohol sales on the 1st of the month the authorities hope that the wives will be able to get their hands on some of the mens wages. I am pretty sure it does not work, but then alcohol control laws fail in most places.
