This morning we were awake at 4:45am in order to get to and catch our 7:30 ferry to the Greek Island of Santorini. The ferry ride took all day as the vessel made stops at a number of Islands as well as Santorini. The journey was uneventful, though a bit boring. But fortunately the sea was calm even though the weather was overcast.
Once ashore we eventualy made contact with the guy delivering our hire car and we followed him from the port area to the village of Oia (pronounced Ia or EE-ah) where we had reserved a small apartment through an online service called AirBnB. At Oia post office we parked the car and met Aris the man who owns the apartment. He walked us to and showed us how to work the appliances and then we were on our own.
The apartment is 2 rooms plus a bath/toilet. It seems to be dug into the side of a steep hill and has a spectacular view of the ocean and nearby island. Nina pointed out that the online ad for the place calls it " a cave"
