We got an early start today headed north towards the region of Romania called Transylvania and maybe a look at one of the "Dracula" Castles. It did not take long to notice two things. The first was the signs, indicating that trucks should not be driving on the roads on Sundays (today) and secondly the large number of cars and the high level of activity in some of the smaller villages.
This "trucks on Sunday" thing is an issue in many European countries. So are we a "truck" or does the fact that our vehicle is a camper relieve us from these restrictions. We have not been able to get a clear answer on this question and today certainly did not answer the question for we passed many police cars and officers today, many pulling over other drivers, but none gave us a second look.
We never did work out whether the day was something special but once into the mountains north of Bucharest there were people in cars, on cycles, and hiking everywhere. Not to mention the many souvenir markets we saw in small towns.
Our day finished in the little town of Bran which is famous for its "Dracula" Castle, even though Dracula (Vlad Tepes) only visited the area once. By then I was a bit tired of narrow roads and impatient drivers. So we parked in a small lot behind the local school and police station. I had an afternoon nap while Nina went off for a look at the castle.
