As the title says we crossed into Denmark today and discovered that the roadside rest stops often have RV dump and water facilities so that gave us an opportunity to fill our fresh water tank. It also turns out that some of them have nice picnic areas with individual parking spots beside a table and bench, so we picked one of those for the nights camp. About 100 km from Hirtshals and the ferry.
On the downside of today we discovered that the camper heater thermostat is not working correctly. We have always been suspicious that this thermostat over estimated the interior temperature of the camper, but that never seemed to be an issue of substance. But over the last few days we observed that the over-estimate has stretched and the thermostat now thinks it is 10°F higher than it actually is.
After some investigation I discovered that a couple of the components on the thermostat circuit board are very hot(too hot to hold a finger on for any length of time) and that these hot components are throwing the thermostat's temperature sensor off, in fact the thermostat's temperature sensor is so dominated by these hot components that it is not effected by modest changes in the camper interior temperature. This has two consequences. The first is that in order to get the heater to actually operate we have to set a very high target temperature (like 85°F). But more significantly, the thermostat's temperature sensor does not notice rises in the camper interior temperature and hence does not shut down the heater.
So until we get it fixed, or more likely replaced, we will have to manage the camper temperature manually. A bit of a pain but better than no heater at all and in any case it is suppose to be summer.
