Driving south this morning from last nights camp we passed a number of individuals running along the road towards us. They all seemed to be dressed the same way in tights and a blue wind-breaker. Each appeared to be carrying an "Olympic" type torch and they were separated on the road, with a gap of approximately 5 km between each runner. What on earth was going on. We have since asked at a number of information centers but no one has been able to enlighten us.
Towards the end of the day we stopped at the very small town of Hofos with the intention of staying the night in their campground and maybe taking a swim in the local thermal pool. That last thought was quickly abandoned when we noticed that the hotter of the two pools was crammed with people. We decided we would rather simply have a shower at the campground in its endless geothermal hot water.
Late in the day the sun poked its head out so we wandered around the village pleased to finally have some good light. Past the center of the village towards the point was a large collection of decaying vehicles, boats and refrigerated containers.
One particular scene really tickled us, and reminded me of the old saying "one mans trash is another mans treasure". Well in this case its one mans trash is another birds house, or maybe housing development". Look at the three photos above:
