As you will see from the photos todays weather was no better than yesterday, but also like yesterday we "soldiered on". The first part of the day was taken up with a visit to Krafla a geothermal power station and general thermal area, and then Namafjall both with lots of "Yellowstone" like sights. After that the weather pretty much killed our sightseeing enthusiasm and we decided to move on (after circling the lake at Myvatn).

The second part of the days plan was to find the start of the F88, head down it a little way and camp for the night leaving ourselves well positioned to travel down that road tomorrow. However once on the road we travelled 60km through amazingly desolate country consisting almost entirely of volcanic ash (black sand like material) and old lava before we found a small pull off beside the track to use as our nights camp. We hoped that this pull off did not infringe on Iceland's "stay on the road" rules.

After about an hour at our camping spot the temperature was 30-31°F (0°C) and it started snowing. By the time we fell asleep there was a 2-3 inch cover of fresh white wet over everything.
