Yesterday we started the 700 km haul to Amsterdam. It was an uneventful and somewhat boring day of driving German motorways and by the end we had covered 450 km. We spent the night at another truck stop near the town of Osnabruck perhaps 50 kms from the German/Dutch border.

We completed the drive into Amsterdam by about 1:00pm today and pulled up in front of Gaasper Campging (the campground we chose as being the most favorable for our Amsterdam visit ) only to find a traffic jam of motorhomes, vans, and travel trailers(caravans) at the entrance all hoping for a place. Eventually we got the news that there was no place suitable for us (whatever that meant) and were handed directions to another establishment on the bay front about 20 km north of Amsterdam center. That place was called Camping-Jachthaven "Uitdam" turned out to be a marina for the Poort van Amsterdam Yacht Club

.

Getting there had its moments. The first obstacle was a 3.5m underpass (we are 4.0m), then a series of very narrow villages roads with a series of 7T and 10T weight limit bridges (we are 11-12T). But none of the bridges collapsed and we finally made it. So tonight we are parked on the water front with one of those famous dikes right behind out camping spot.
