As it turned out we spent a couple of rest days at the Balloch camp ground, but I guess that is OK because this is not supposed to be work - right. We had a nice drive along the famous Loch Lomond before turning off through Rest and be Thankful passto Loch Fyne and the town of Inveraray. As we would later discover there are a number of passes called "Rest and Be Thankful". In the days of stage coaches these passes required that 2nd and 3rd class passengers to get out and push the coach (with 1st class passengers still inside).
In Inveraray we stopped for a while and walked to take a look at the local castle which according to pamphlets was used in the 2012 Downton Abbey Christmas Special.
The next stop of the day was the town of Oban, an attractive little port town. We looked around the town for a while and from the tourist office got directions to the local Caravan Park. The drive to the campground was our first experience in Scotland of single track road. This is exactly what it sounds like. A road only wide enough for one vehicle but with regular passing places. very similar to many of the roads we traveled in Norway.
The caravan park turned out to be a delightful spot with great views of the ocean and cliffs.
