Weather wise today was another glorious autumn day, but I needed a new, non weather related title, and Balmoral Castle provided that. About mid morning we pulled into one of the large parking lots to find only a few other tourists. Unfortunately at this time of year the Queen and family are living at Balmoral and hence it is closed to the public, hence no tourists. One cannot even get a glimpse of the place thanks to high fences and forests. Thats why there is a photo of a post card, thats the only way we could get a pic of the castle itself. The area is very picturesque.
After failing to be invited in for tea by Elizabeth we headed towards the town of Pitlochry through more picturesque country side and narrow roads. Our objective was to visit and take a tour of to a small (claims to be Scotland's smallest) whisky distillery named Edradour. It really is a small place and looks more like a modest sized farm than a distillery. The tour started with some samples of their product and then walked us through the stages of the whisky making process. Quite interesting but won't change my view of whisky as a drink. I just have not acquired the taste for it.
We spent the waning afternoon looking for a place to spend the night and eventually found a Holiday Park at Cally Bridge. A Holiday Park is basically a mobile home park for people that are mostly not full time.
