One of our longer driving days, all the way to Galway but along the way we had a special sight to see, the famous Cliffs of Moher, Irelands most visited tourist attraction. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate for our visit. Earlier in the day we had some glorious sunshine (as you can see from some of the early photos) but by the time we got to the "cliffs", cloud, drizzle and haze. Never the less they were impressive and we could imagine how spectacular they would be in the sunshine.
After the cliffs we traveled through an area called The Burren. A barren area in which light gray limestone dominates the landscape and where the water of centuries has carved channels and holes in that limestone.
By the time we got to Galway it was raining heavily. That combined with the very tight twisty streets gave us a little bit of a navigational challenge but eventually we found our way to our hotel. A large, US style, hotel (Jury Inn) right in the heart of the city. None of the character of the places we have been staying in. We spent a little time exploring the city, bought Nina a new unlocked iPhone (thats a story I haven't told) and then escaped inside away from the rain.
