A short drive today to the town of Portrush, a small windswept town on the north coast of Ireland. We would discover over the next couple of days that the place is a very busy summer resort town and is close to the famous Giants Causeway. But thats for tomorrow.

The town feels a bit like an escape to the 1950s, the place we are staying in a family run hotel, in an old (probably victorian era) building on the main street. Two interesting bits of trivia will highlight the 1950s comment.

We had dinner in the hotel tonight and Nina ordered a vegetarian hamburger, the meal that arrived consisted of a vegetarian patty, on a bare white bread bun adorned by a single lettuce leaf. That was it. We could not decide whether the chef was offended by the order (and showing his/her displeasure by presenting a deliberately un-inspiring meal), or simply did not care.

At dinner we noticed the breakfast menu and were amused to read that the "healthy option" was a poached egg and bacon on a muffin.
