We spent the morning at the Clinton Presidential Center in downtown Little Rock. The approach was easy for our not-so nimble vehicle and parking was easy as the Center has a large lot adjacent to the entrance. We also noticed that there is an RV park on the northern side of the river right opposite the Center. Had we stayed there we would have been able to visit the Center via a pedestrian bridge. Something to keep in mind for next time.
The Center's main building is a very impressive structure and the location on the banks of the Arkansas River nice. As one would expect there are lots of displays highlighting Bill's accomplishments as president. But perhaps, for us, the highlight of the "presidential stuff" was the re-creation of the Oval Office and the opportunity to take a photo of "President Nina".
It so happened that currently the Center is hosting the:
Nina in particular found this craft exhibition interesting and its many beautiful pieces facinating. We were interested to see a number of works by Dale Chichuly a well known Tacoma, WA glass blowing artist in the collection.
There was also a Chichuly piece called Crystal Tree of Light on permenant display in the main Center building. This piece was commissioned for the Millennium Celebration in 1999.
After the Clinton Center we spent much of the day on I40 heading east.
We stopped for the night at Village Creek State Park north of I40 at exit 241. A nice park, loverly forest, and a quiet night with electricity.
