Update

We have had a number of enquiries from readers regarding our current where-abouts and activities, so its probably about time for an update, I must admit I did leave things "hanging" with our last entries from Morroco. We are back in the US for our yearly round of medical checkups and tax returns. We departed Europe in January and have left our yellow truck in the capable hands of Eric at Adventure Trucks. Our original plan was to return to Europe in June and complete our European Odyssey with a visit to Spain and Portugal, but that plan has been delayed by a motorcycle misadventure.

In February I bought myself a 2011 BMW 1200 GS with the intention of doing some riding in the cooler Arizona months and building some skills, after all 67 is a questionably ripe age for starting on a motorcycle. I even booked myself into one of those RawHyde offroad training courses.

Well that plan came to a painful end in late March in the deserts of Southern California. The bike went down with me under it and the result was 3 fractures in the left leg and so far 2 months hopping around on crutches, and waiting for the leg to heal. It is still not done.

The really bad news (particularly for Nina) is that we don't know when my leg will be up to the task of using the clutch pedal in the yellow truck, so for now our return to Europe is indefinitely delayed.

But you can't keep a good traveler down so we have a plan to entertain ourselves for the remainder of the year (while we wait for the verdict on my leg). At the end of this week we will take our Earthroamer (automatic transmission - no clutch) to Overland Expo West and then at the start of July we will embark (with our Earthroamer) on a tour of the USA and Canada that should keep us occupied until November. We are quite excited about this plan as it will be our longest period of travel in the Earthroamer and will (we hope) take us to many interesting places including (we plan) Churchill, Manitoba to see polar bears ( of course we fly the last leg from Winnipeg, no roads to Churchill).

So this website will become active again soon, but this time tracking our ER travels.

Software Upgrade

During my convalescence I have kept busy modifying the software that drives this website to be more "mobile-friendly", you should not notice any difference if you view the site on a laptop or desktop but phone and tablet users should notice a more "mobile-friendly" layout.

Behind the scenes its a big change and my testing could easily have missed something, so I would welcome any reports pointing me to things that don't seem to work correctly
